Preparation

  1. Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees celsius.
  2. Slice beef into thin slices, then coat in flour.
  3. Heat oil then brown beef and onions.
  4. Add MasterFoods Steak Seasoning, MasterFoods Ginger Ground, MasterFoods Freshly Crushed Garlic, MasterFoods Thyme Leaves, MasterFoods Basil Leaves, tomato paste, brown sugar and beer.
  5. Make up 150ml of MasterFoods Beef Concentrated Liquid Stock.
  6. Add stock to pan.
  7. Bring to the boil, stirring occasionally.
  8. Place mixture in a heat proof, covered casserole dish and bake for about 1 1/2 - 2 hours, testing for tenderness.
  9. Spread butter and MasterFoods Mild English Mustard on each bread slice.
  10. Place bread on top of mixture.
  11. Sprinkle with Gruyere cheese.
  12. Continue baking uncovered until crust is golden, approximately 10-15 minutes.
  13. Serve immediately.
