Greece
Flavour Origin

The origanums are native to the mediterranean region and for centuries were cultivated as flowering and strewing herbs. They were popular in ancient Greece and Egypt and Apicius the Roman epicure used them.  Oregano became widely distributed in Asia, North Africa and the Middle East.
