Our new recyclable, paper-based MasterFoods Squeeze-On Tomato Sauce packs are now in trial. Made at Mars Food & Nutrition’s manufacturing site in Wyong on the Central Coast, the packs are the result of five years of research and development – with $2 million invested in the project so far.The new packs contain 56% less plastic, saving 0.76g of plastic per pack compared to the original MasterFoods Plastic Squeeze-On packs. This innovation supports Mars Australia’s aim of creating a circular economy and advancing progress toward the Australian National Packaging Targets.

How do I use the new product?

The paper-based MasterFoods Recyclable Squeeze-On Tomato Sauce packs are easy to use. Simply find the ‘This Side Up’ icon, pull the ends towards you, fold and squeeze. There is no need to rip the pack in half.We have undertaken significant research and development to make sure the new packs are as easy to use as our much-loved original. Our priority was to make sure that tomato sauce lovers could continue to be able to hold a pie in one hand, and their sauce in the other.

What do I do once I’ve used all the sauce from the pack?

After use, just place your empty Squeeze-On pack in a recycling bin.

Is the MasterFoods tomato sauce the same as the original?

Yes! We are trialling a new recyclable paper-based pack but the MasterFoods tomato sauce inside is the same great sauce you know and love.

Can I still find the original pack?

Yes, you can. This is a trial product and only available at select outlets.

How do I use the new paper-based recyclable squeeze-on?

Find the ‘This Side Up’ icon on your pack. Sauce will be dispensed from the other side, marked with a black circle.
Place your index finger in the centre of the pack.
Pull ends towards you, fold and squeeze to dispense the sauce.
After use, place your empty pack in a recycling bin.

Which bin do I place the empty pack into?

After use, place the empty squeeze-on pack in a recycling bin. You’ll see the Australasian Recycling label (ARL) indicated on the pack.
